Roel Avonds
Roel Avonds (°1981) began his musical studies in Antwerp, at the Royal Flemish Conservatory, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in 2001. After this, he completed his trombone studies at the Brussels Conservatory, where he obtained his master's degree in 2004. From 2011 to 2013, Roel completed a master's course in bass trombone at Codarts Conservatoire Rotterdam, in the class of Brandt Attema.
Besides this, he also participated in master classes with various renowned trombonists and pedagogues such as Joseph Alessi, Ian Bousfield, Jonas Bylund, ... and also took lessons in historical performance practice with Wim Becu.
Roel was a trombonist with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra since 2006 and has been bass trombonist there since 2013. He is also still active as a freelancer with various orchestras and ensembles at home and abroad.
