Alain De Rudder

Alain De Rudder studied at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven and at the Royal Music Conservatory of Brussels, where he obtained a first prize for trumpet and a higher diploma for chamber music. He then completed his studies with Prof Reinhold Friedrich at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe.

In 1990, he was selected as solo trumpeter for the European Community Youth Orchestra, where he played with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Carlo Maria Giulini, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Charles Dutoit until 1993.

Alain De Rudder has been solo trumpeter with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra since 1992. He is also a regular guest as soloist with the Ensemble Modern, the Radio-Sinfonie-Orchester Frankfurt, the NDR-Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn, the Budapest Strings, the China National Symphony Orchestra Beijing, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.

Alain is also active within historical performance practice, regularly collaborating with the Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, the Collegium Vocale Gent orchestra and Il Gardellino. Alain teaches natural trumpet at MAGO in Antwerp.
