Breaking down barriers: outreach

The Antwerp Symphony Orchestra seeks to develop strong, local roots in its home city with its regular concerts as well as through an extensive array of projects designed to break down barriers and introduce various social-cultural groups to the joy of classical music.

Through social concert tickets, concerts on location at hospitals, prisons and closed institutions and the free open-air concert on the Sint-Jansplein square in Antwerp, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra also stimulates people who wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to classical music or attend concerts.

opMaatorkest
The opMaatorkest is the result of a unique partnership between the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and five Antwerp primary schools.
Antwerp Symphony Orchestra Mobile
The Antwerp Symphony Orchestra Mobile targets a very specific group of society: people who are inhibited physically from attending a regular concert.
Open air concert
Our open-air concert on Antwerp’s Sint-Jansplein square fires the starting shot for the classical concert season.
Open to all
The Antwerp Symphony Orchestra aims to open its concert hall doors to everyone.
