Chen Reiss

Soprano Chen Reiss, known for her ‘voice full of silver luster and clarity’ (Bachtrack) and her ‘flawlessly rising and seductive sound’ (Opera News), gained international recognition as a member of the ensemble of the Bayerische Staatsoper and during her residency at the Vienna State Opera. Highlights of the 2024-2025 season include her debut as Mozart's Contessa at the Welsh National Opera, the title role in Schumann's Genoveva at the Kölner Philharmonie, Strauss‘ Vier letzte Lieder with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and her debut in Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony with Tarmo Peltokoski and the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, as well as collaborations with conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach, Zubin Mehta, Ivor Bolton, Lahav Shani and Alain Altinoglu. Her recent successes include her residency with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Christmas concert with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under Klaus Mäkelä. Her most recent recordings include Mendelssohn's Lobgesang with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich and Paavo Järvi (Alpha Classics), Mahler's Fourth Symphony with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Semyon Bychkov (Pentatone), Schrekers Vom ewigen Leben with Christoph Eschenbach and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin (Deutsche Grammophon), songs and scenes by Fanny Hensel and Felix Mendelssohn with the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich, and arias and scenes by Beethoven with the Academy of Ancient Music.
